Overview of Module 2
Transforming the leadership & culture of an organisation requires more than just an understanding and intertwining of ethical theory into your values and self-identity; it needs Leadership and Emotional Intelligence (EI) at all levels to help it live and breathe on a daily basis.
There are many styles of leadership that can be used ethically in organisational situations or events, which leads us nicely to the next step of your ethical leadership journey.
For this module, I have provided you with one of my articles outlining some of the different styles of leadership and altruistic aspects of transformational leadership when applied authentically, thus helping you intertwine your newly attained ethical theory and beliefs with leadership styles.
As you read the articles, you will gain an understanding of what attributes make an ethical leader, and through a self-reflection and a self-development exercise, be able to articulate how you will aspire to uphold your ethical leadership on a daily basis.
Being an ethical leader means being authentic, treating people with respect, caring for them, and understanding their needs, feelings, and emotions, the basic factors of Emotional Intelligence.
The readings and assignments will also provide you with some key aspects of EI and allow you to analyse and better understand yourself so you can become socially aware of other people's behaviours, feelings, and emotions as an ethical leader.
It will also start to give you an understanding of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and the gaps that currently exist in organisations, thus equipping you with the capability to potentially create and implement programs that can influence culture.
On successful completion of this module, you will be awarded 30 hours CPD.
